I'm Maya, a freelancer focused on science communication and illustration. As I have previously worked in academia (PhD 2021), I possess a unique perspective that allows me to offer insightful guidance when communicating science. During my own PhD journey, I found myself consistently fascinated by the challenge of effectively communicating my scientific findings in the simplest and most understandable manner possible. This consideration proved crucial not only when writing papers, but also in presenting my research and designing graphs, tables and other imagery.

My aim is to enhance accessibility to science for a broader audience by taking on a creative approach. This involves simplifying complex concepts through clear language and engaging illustrations. By utilising digital tools such as Procreate, Adobe Fresco, Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop, I aim to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and public understanding. By doing so, we can foster greater faith in science.
